It’s not until you give up
something that you notice how much you use it or want it. Its been one week and
I have not had any fried food, and I know that this was going to be a hard
challenge but damn how I want to stick my head in a bag of Lays sour cream and
onion chips and just Hoover them down…num, num ,num. Or dive in headfirst and
swim around in a pool full of French fries, or to just have a thing of cheese
sticks. Just thinking about all of this
is making my mouth water. MMMMM fried food, because you know everything is
always better battered and fried or at least that’s what I thought. Now here I
am a week into this no fried food kick and although I do miss those foods I’m
finding that there are better things out there that can replace everything fried,
and I’m going to let you in on a secret this shit taste good who would have
thought. Healthy food can taste good if not better then the fried stuff for
example I love fries, I am a burger and fries kind of girl. Yet this is what I have found, one I can make
a very good hamburger at home, not that pre-pressed crap but taking the time to
make hamburger patties and its grilling season, time to bust out and put them
on the grill. The nice thing about doing this you can flavor your food however
you want and to supplement the fries I have found that white sweet potatoes are
my new friend, little salt, little olive oil and bake away, shit is good and
I’m not a sweet potato girl…well until now I love it. Or those great pop-in
chips they are not too bad and have great flavor to them as well. Basically I’m
finding that you can have any food you want that was fried but find away to
bake it and make it just as great, because lets face it eating is about how
things taste and if you can make it taste great then why not eat healthy.
I will say this, the hardest thing
about this challenge, is not so much the giving up food but its trying to
explain to people what you are doing and why. When you tell someone that no you
don’t eat fried food or no you don’t eat fast food you get this look of “I
don’t get it” (a valley girls voice), and the truth is most people won’t get
it, and when your answer is I’m doing it because I want to be healthy and stop
eating that’s when you get the blank look…they still don’t get it. So now if I
have to tell someone, and they ask why, my answer I’m a little crazy felt like
doing something different in my life. They seem to understand that a little bit
more, which makes me wonder how many people think I’m a little off my rocker
and are ok with that.
Over all my goal of not eating any
fried food is going well, challenging but good and as for the losing 5 pounds
this month, well I will find out how I did with that when I weigh myself in at
the end of the month. No matter stay positive and keep pushing to accomplish
the goal.
Tell next time; keep pushing to
accomplish your goals
Fat girl out.
